The U.S. Grains Council is seeking an intern for Summer 2009.

Summary:

The U.S. Grains Council Communications department seeks a graphic design student looking to add professional work examples to their portfolio while gaining a wealth of information in the U.S. agriculture trade field.

Company:

The U.S. Grains Council develops export markets for U.S. barley, corn, sorghum and related products. Founded in 1960, the Council is a private, non-profit organization with nine international offices and programs in more than 50 countries. Its unique membership includes producer organizations and agribusinesses with a common interest in developing export markets.

Duties:

1) Annual Report and Directory: Design the Council’s Annual Report and Directory covers and all corresponding pages. Selected candidate will be responsible for the layout of the report utilizing articles written by the USGC communications department. Both projects must be completed within the timeframe of the internship.

2) 50th Year Anniversary: Coordinate the collection and management of historical artifacts that will be utilized for the commemorative art display currently underway. Both projects must be completed upon departure.

3) Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

1) Must have excellent graphic design skills including artistic ability;

2) Good organization skills and ability to prioritize workflow;

3) Must be able to multitask and meet strict project deadlines; and

4) Maintain excellent interpersonal skills having the ability to work well with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in agriculture.
