Managing editor/web editor

High Plains Journal, a nationally recognized weekly farm and ranch magazine, is seeking a managing editor/web editor. We want someone who can juggle multiple responsibilities and keep them all in the air. (If you can juggle balls or bowling pins too, that’s even better. We need a little entertainment around here.)

The individual would be responsible for:
• assisting editor in editorial direction of the publication
• management of flow of the weekly printed publication through the editorial department
• management, writing and editing of web content

The desired candidate would possess:
• at least five years publication experience as a reporter or editor, ideally with experience as a managing editor.
• bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications or related field
• strong news judgment and knowledge of agriculture
• strong organizational skills
• ability to work well with others
• ability to work on more than one project at once
• ability to write in a clear, concise and creative manner
• ability to manage projects and people

Full-time position located in Dodge City, KS. Benefits include paid vacation, health insurance and 401k.
