Richard A. Brock & Associates Inc is offering a paid, full-summer internship at the firm’s headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Job Description:
The applicant will be assisting two of the firm’s Vice Presidents — Publishing and Consulting. The intern will develop and write draft copy for multiple uses relative to farm commodity markets and marketing that is distributed via print and electronic media, provide data analysis and contribute to feature articles as needed. In addition, he/she will render assistance in maintaining database of commodity fundamental history.
In addition, a special writing and editing project will be assigned: How to Develop a Marketing Plan.

Job Requirements:

  • Completed two years of Ag Business, Economics & Communications
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills that include Word, Excel, PP

Job Experience the Intern Will Take Away:

  • Writing assignments for short- and longer-term products
  • Skills in data analysis and critical application
  • Practical experience in research

NAFB Foundation Scholarship

Since 1977, the NAFB Foundation has provided financial support and educational opportunities in the form of college scholarships to assist students in pursuit of careers in agricultural communications. Currently the NAFB Foundation offers three annual college scholarships, including two for $4,000, as well as the Glenn Kummerow Memorial Scholarship for $5,000. These scholarships are recognized at the National NAFB Convention, and the winners also receive an expense-paid trip to attend the convention as part of the award.

Scholarships are paid over two semesters. The first half of the funds will be applied to the fall semester 2012, while the second half will be applied to the spring semester 2013. Funds will be paid directly to the college/university once the recipient provides proper documentation outlined below.

Criteria of the NAFB Foundation Scholarship are:

  • Applicants must be a junior, senior, or graduate student prior to application deadline and must be enrolled in or transferring to an agricultural communications curriculum with concentration and/or application in broadcast media (this may include Internet/online media distribution)
  • Successful completion of application and all supplemental materials
  • Remain in “good standing” with school for the duration of semesters scholarship money is to be awarded
  • Provide NAFB with a billing statement per semester scholarship money is to be paid

All support materials below must be received under one cover, at the same time:
1. Recorded audio statement (in MP3 or audio cd format), not to exceed 2 minutes, to include:
a. Description of your communications experience to date. Example: writing, editing, radio announcing, public speaking, leadership positions, etc. 
b. Explain your reasons for choosing a career in agricultural communications 
c. Explain your long-term career goals 
d. How you anticipate using electronic communication skills
2. Official academic transcript of college coursework completed
3. Three (3) letters of reference (academic, personal and/or leadership references)

  •     Create and execute media releases and press kits.
  •     Create overview and recaps of event and marketing promotions.

  •     Grassroots initiatives
  •     Attend internal and external business meetings.

SINGING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM COULD WIN YOU A $10,000 SCHOLARSHIP

We’re investing in farming’s future with our new Anthem™ herbicide (coming soon – EPA registration pending) and $25,000 in college scholarships as prizes in our Anthem Singing Contest.

Students (ages 13-21): enter by submitting a video of you singing the National Anthem.

Videos will be posted online for popular voting to determine four finalists.

The four finalists will be interviewed and their performances recorded for airing on national TV.

Online voting will determine the grand prize winner.

Videos must be received by June 15. Must be a member of a national ag-related student organization such as FFA, 4-H or student NAMA to enter.

CMA internship deadline is approaching

CMA is now accepting applications from college students who have completed at least one year of undergraduate classes, majoring in communications, advertising, journalism, public relations, agricultural communications or related fields, for a summer internship position. Applicants should have strong writing and social media skills and be passionate about agriculture and food. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual able to assist with several marketing communications projects on behalf of clients. The internship is located out of our Kansas City office and spans from approximately late-May to mid-August, with specific starting and ending dates depending on the applicant’s availability. CMA will provide competitive wages and summer housing in Kansas City. Travel to and from Kansas City to begin and end the internship is not reimbursed.
