University of Georgia opens position for new graduate assistantship

The Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication at the University of Georgia is pleased to announce we are seeking qualified candidates for two master’s level assistantships.  These positions are in conjunction with the USDA Grant “Ambassadors for Conservation Education”  and will focus on environmental education. Preferred applicants will have excellent teaching and communication skills, and experience with video production.

Select Sires Internship

Select Sires Inc., Plain City, Ohio, is seeking two college students for internships at its headquarters facility for summer 2010, beginning in May or early June. Complete position descriptions for the available internships are attached.

Students majoring in dairy science, animal science, or communications who are familiar with the dairy industry are preferred. Strong writing and computer skills are essential. While juniors or seniors will be given preference, sophomores will be considered. Applicants must submit cover letters and resumes with references no later than December 1, 2009.

Yamaha Motor Corp Announces its Second Annual Scholarship

Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., is now accepting applications for its second annual scholarship program that provides financial assistance to members of the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT).  ACT is a national college student association with 354 members located on 17 college and university campuses across the country.  ACT’s mission of fostering professional development is at the core of the Yamaha-ACT Scholarship Program.

The Yamaha-ACT Scholarship Program is broken out into two individual student scholarships and one chapter scholarship.  All three scholarships are aimed at helping students attend the annual Agricultural Media Summit (AMS), a professional development and networking opportunity.

Turf and Ornamental Communicators Association (TOCA) Scholarship Program

In 2010 TOCA will award one $2,500 scholarship.

College students pursuing a degree in green industry communications, or a related field, (e.g., horticulture, turf management) are encouraged to apply.

TOCA is composed of editors, writers, photographers, public relations/advertising practitioners and others involved in green industry communications. The TOCA Publisher’s Scholarship is sponsored by GIE Media, Inc., Turf Magazine, Questex Media Group, M2MEDIA360 and Golfweek’s SuperNEWS.

Please note that the application deadline is March 1, 2010.
