College Aggies Online
The Animal Agriculture Alliance is gearing up for its annual College Aggies Online (CAO) scholarship program, kicking off September 9. The nine-week program provides a multitude of opportunities to gain real-world experience and build resume skills while competing for scholarships ($20,000 was awarded last year!). CAO is open to undergraduate, graduate, pre-professional students, collegiate clubs, and classes interested in sharing positive, factual information online and in their campus communities about animal agriculture. Highlights from the 2023 program include:
- Students sharing more than 1,380 posts about agriculture online
- Clubs and classes reaching over 10,000 people in person through campus events
- Confidence communicating about agriculture increasing from 6.55 to 9.0 on a 10-point scale
Animal Agriculture Alliance – deadline varies
The Animal Agriculture Alliance offer paid internship positions throughout the year (1 position in spring, 2 in summer, 1 in fall). All positions are full-time (40 hours/week) and can be conducted virtually or based in the Alliance’s office located in Arlington, VA near the Courthouse Metro Station.
Alliance interns assist with social media content production, research of key issues in animal agriculture, media monitoring, legislative tracking, developing reports and member resources and a variety of other projects along with supporting the Alliance team in executing projects like the annual Stakeholders Summit, College Aggies Online, trade show booths, marketing campaigns and more. Interns function as full-fledged members of the Alliance team and will be asked to contribute at a high level to help the organization achieve their mission of safeguarding the future of animal agriculture. Marketing & Communications Specialist – Kansas State University
This person is part of a dynamic team within the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry that is responsible for coordinating communications and marketing activities for recruitment, youth activities, extension, departmental communications and events and ASI personnel.
Job Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide support and perform other duties as assigned
- Design, develop, and maintain departmental web pages and social media outlets.
- Design, prepare, and edit media articles, press releases, newsletters, and other communications oriented toward external audiences with the emphasis on alumni and friends of the department.
- Coordinate with college and university-level communication and marketing specialists regarding activities/needs related to video projects, photography, brochures, and publications.
- Serve as a point of contact for the department’s social media outlets for the different disciplines within Animal Sciences and Industry.
- Monitor deadlines on a daily basis to ensure projects are on schedule and manage all the expectations for each discipline
- Respond in a timely and accurate manner to requests, updates and special projects, both verbally and in writing.

Ag Communications Intern – Texas Beef Checkoff
The Ag Communications Intern will assist in the development and execution of programs aimed at
communicating the role of the Beef Checkoff in Texas. This role primarily educates and engages Texas
producers through communication media and contributes to Industry Relations programming.

- Attend producer meetings and industry events, representing TBC by proactively networking and
sharing information with attendees.
- Assist with the development and execution of producer communications, including researching,
designing, and writing materials for press releases, social media, newsletters, brochures, speeches,
etc.
- Assist with the development and implementation of beef production education and advocacy
programming.
- Assist with fulfilling requests from AgriLife Extension, Educators, and Texas CattleWomen.
- Assist with program budget tracking and program evaluations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Coordinator, Programs – Texas Beef Checkoff
The Coordinator, Programs supports the Texas Beef Council’s (TBC) promotion, research, and education
efforts as a key member of a fast-paced team of professionals. This essential role has broad visibility to
foodservice, retail, administrative, and producer-facing staff members and supports the numerous
programs executed on behalf of our stakeholders and partners. This includes coordinating educational
initiatives and communicating with industry stakeholders, such as producers, retailers, and foodservice
operators.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential
functions. These examples do not include all the tasks the employee may be expected to perform.
- Provide general administrative support for executive leadership and program staff.
- Assist with events and training sessions tailored for meat industry, retail, and foodservice
professionals.
- Coordinate producer meetings and events: maintain a schedule, manage logistics (venue, catering,
A/V), prepare materials, coordinate with industry partners, and manage registration and
communication as needed.
- Assist with executing comprehensive communication strategies for diverse audiences (producers,
stakeholders, retailers, and foodservice professionals), including scheduling, editing, and reviewing
all communications for clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Support industry relations team through relationship management of key collection sites and field
contractors, including answering inquiries and providing assistance as needed.
Support the compliance team through various administrative tasks, including maintaining and
updating databases, organizing documentation, and assisting with data entry and analysis.
- Attend producer meetings and industry events, representing TBC by proactively networking and
sharing information with attendees.
- Assist with the implementation of beef production education and student-focused beef advocacy
outreach programming.
- Assist with program budget tracking and program evaluations.
- Assist administrative team with overflow projects and serve as backup for administrative functions
when necessary.
